How to organically grow your LinkedIn page to 1,000 Followers / Subscribers — My LinkedIn Creator Journey
One free way to build customer relationships is through launching a LinkedIn Page for your business or organization.
A LinkedIn Page can function as a non intrusive dynamic newsletter for your target audience.
As a solo entrepreneur, I have found it to be a great free way to cast vision for my business to other professionals.
My LinkedIn Page Creator Journey
In June 2021, I launched a LinkedIn page for my business Grace to Cultivate LLC. (gracetocultivate.com) By November 11th 2022 (17 months later) the page reached 1,000 followers or subscribers.
I am writing this blog post to share what I learned in the process for other prospective creators.
How does a LinkedIn Page add value to your brand or blog?
The LinkedIn Page adds value in multiple ways. You don’t have to pay for customer leads. The page allows you to build customer relationships with your ideal demographic for free. The page functions as a dynamic e-newsletter. However, unlike an e-newsletter, LinkedIn gives the brand the ability to actively listen to the prospective client.
A LinkedIn Page is not a Group
LinkedIn allows users to create pages, groups and events.
A page is a public display of a company’s vision, milestones and marketing. A delineating factor is that a page is generally controlled by one person or a group of people that work for the company / organization, they are typically the only ones that post content.
A group is a discussion board that is generally centered around a topic or shared interest of its membership. Groups allow many people or all people to post content.
Events are online events designed around a central theme. Individuals and organizations can create an event.
When seeking to cast a vision for your business as outlined in this blog. Make sure that you are creating a Page and not a Group or Event.
The page grows primarily through invitations and not the algorithm.
My business (@gracetocultivate) makes content for multiple platforms.(Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest and TikTok) I find that growth on the LinkedIn Page has been the most refreshing.
It is refreshing due to the fact that growth on this platform is the most consistent as a new (non celebrity) creator.
Whereas on other platforms, ( as experienced in 2022) so much of the growth is based on arbitrary factors controlled by the algorithm. (time of posts, early interactions, number of posts, etc) The LinkedIn page is controlled by two main factors (for solo entrepreneurs like myself): the size or the number of personal LinkedIn Network (followers / subscribers) and consistently sending invitations to prospective clients on LinkedIn.
Each month LinkedIn gives the admins of its Pages an allotment of invitations. The invitations can be directed towards your current personal LinkedIn connections. The first year I was allotted 100 invitations per month and this year I was allotted 250 invitations per month. I infer that each year the number of invitations will increase.
My biggest mistake in this process was not always taking advantage of the invitation allotment.
The invitation allotment is typically given at the beginning of the new month / end of the previous month. Use it or lose it. Everyone that is invited will not join, however many invited people will. Moreover, if they do not join, it’s a way of introducing your business to others. Lastly, you will not be penalized for reaching out to a large number of other accounts as often happens on other social media platforms.
Post recommendations for novices and beginners
If you are interested in launching a LinkedIn Page but don’t know where to begin consider these recommendations.
- Check out canva.com (low cost) to create user — friendly dynamic memes and visual content that cast vision for your products and services.
- Launch or use video from your existing TikTok or Youtube Channel to cast vision for your company. I have found TikTok to be a helpful companion to the LinkedIn Page because it allows you to save the video to your phone. I take edited creative videos that I have completed on TikTok and repost them on the LinkedIn Page.
- Consider checking out the “LinkedIn Learning” Courses available through the LinkedIn search engine. Some courses cost a fee but some are free. The courses can give the users best practices as recommended by LinkedIn.
In Summary
A LinkedIn page can function as a non intrusive dynamic newsletter for your target audience. It can be grown through monthly invitations which have been allotted by LinkedIn. Be sure to choose the option of the Page and not the Group or Event when seeking to cast a vision for your company. The Page adds value for you because it allows you to build professional relationships for your business without having to pay for customer leads.
