Summary in a sentence — This book is designed to answer the “whys” (or the Frequently Asked Questions) to the “whats” of nutritional eating from a respected nutritionist.
What is it? The Science of Nutrition is written by Rhiannon Lambert. Lambert is one of the UK’s leading nutritionists. She is a highly credentialed, experienced nutrition advisor. (website here — www.rhitrition.com ) The book seeks to answer a smorgasbord of nutritional topics in a digestible manner. (puns intended)
What I learned — An introductory education to many important topics within the world of nutrition. A few of those subjects include; recommended eating categories/portions, macronutrients, micronutrients, hydration, digestion, nutrition in small children, how nutrition affects mental health, pros and cons of plant based diet.
How I will seek to apply — I want to reduce the amount of high fructose corn syrup that I cook with and personally consume. The book also helped me to better understand the role of hydration, food group & vegetable color diversity within a healthy daily diet. The nutrition statistics pertaining to underserved communities explain the significance of my brand serving as a cultivator and educator in these areas. I will also use this book as a nutritional cheat sheet/ resource guide when I have questions. I would highly recommend it.
