Food Truck Startup Journal Entry #1 — “My Point of View”
4/11/2023
I am writing this public journal for people who want to launch their own food trucks or food brands in general. My hope is that one day I will launch a successful food truck / brand and that each journal entry will help someone else in their journey. I hope this open journal will also invite potential customers, staff and stakeholders into the story of this business.
I am by no means an expert. I just love cooking and entrepreneurship. A food truck startup is where both of those passions collide. As Jim Collins (Good to Great) would say, this big hairy audacious goal (BHAG) is only in the early stage of the ideation phase. Hopefully this blog will track the highs and lows of this business journey.
Who am I? My name is Zachary Delano Middleton and I want to offer Healthy, Efficient, Affordable, Reimagined and Tasty (H.E.A.R.T.) Food starting in my home state of South Carolina. I want to launch the food truck in my current place of residence, Columbia, SC.
In this first journal entry I want to share my point of view. I am a Christian; I’m a bi-vocational minister resting on the person and work of Jesus Christ seen in Matthew 11:28–30, Romans 5, Ephesians 2 and 1 Corinthians 15. I am a thirty five year old black man from the American South, I was born and reared in Orangeburg, SC. I am a Historically Black University (HBCU) Graduate, an alum of SC State University, ℅ 2010. I am a small business owner, the name of my company is Grace to Cultivate LLC. The goal of the company is helping the next generation work smarter and not “just” harder; skill building, career development and entrepreneurship. Scroll through this blog if you are interested in some of the seminars and digital content I have released in the past. I am a young adult fiction author that has released two books; Running After Delano and Rashard Freeman Teenage Entrepreneur (Book 1: The P.U.S.H. Collective). Last but not least, I am a person that hopes to launch a food business that cultivates great food and community.
What can you expect from this journal / blog? I plan to post the business’ major events, recipes, lessons learned from culinary training, food / business book reviews, brand related content and general encouragement.
I look forward to your interaction, suggestions and comments. Be encouraged!
