Author Bio — Zachary Delano Middleton

Zachary Delano Middleton is a young adult fiction writer and motivational speaker that desires to see young people connect the dots between their experiences at school and the “real world” as adults. He seeks to provide this through leadership workshops that seek to cultivate vocational imagination, workplace professionalism, entrepreneurial creativity and to improve literacy.

Zach was born and reared in Orangeburg, SC. Zach is the great nephew of civil rights martyr, Delano Middleton, killed in the Orangeburg Massacre in 1968. A 2010 graduate of South Carolina State University, he holds a Bachelor’s in Business Management. As a student, Middleton was the SGA president and a member of two MEAC Championship Football teams.

His work Running after Delano has been highlighted as the Editor’s Pick in the Times and Democrat, an Orangeburg SC Newspaper. It has also been featured in the “Happenings” Section of the Post and Courier, a Charleston, SC newspaper. Middleton also received the opportunity to interview the featured guest Mr. Robert Caldwell (who was the friend of Delano Middleton) for the NPR Storycorps podcast series entitled Unresolved.

Middleton is committed to the local church, works as a life advisor for Oliver Gospel Mission in Columbia, SC and his favorite passage of scripture is 1st Corinthians 15. He is the owner of Grace to Cultivate LLC. Grace to Cultivate LLC. is a company that focuses on the next generation working smarter and not just harder.

He has written Running After Delano which seeks to help young people connect the dots between the historic Civil Rights Movement and their own lives. Rashard Freeman — Teenage Entrepreneur (Book #1 The P.U.S.H. Collective) which is the first in a series of books designed to teach financial literacy and entrepreneurship through storytelling. He is currently working on a book series called The Backstories of the Trampoline Academy which is designed to teach grit through storytelling.

He also has a passion for cooking. He has a big hairy audacious goal of launching a business that would put Healthy, Efficient, Affordable, Re-imagined Tasty (HEART) Food in food deserts through America and beyond.
